5,790 FR.EE Inbound Links In Ten Weeks

(Up to 6,203 One Week Later!)

First a quick review. I prepared for this website (and any others I
plan on in the future) by making a group of blogs that I have total
control of. Then I can put links on them to any future project.

I use Wordpress Direct for that purpose - and you can still get a
fr.ee membership that will let you make 3 blogs and they will even
host them.

Naturally, I don't have 6,203 links on my own blogs. In fact, when
I first started the blog in this tutorial, it showed about 250
inbound links. That was about a week after I put links on all of my
blog farm.

So, where did all of the rest of the inbound links come from? With
just a few exceptions, they came from just one source - Trackbacks.

I've written before about trackbacks, and I hope you are already
using them. However, you may not be putting them to work as well as
you can.

Now obviously, most of you will not want to make the same type of
blog. However, the principles will apply to any project that you
want to do.

First of all, notice that this blog is 'sticky'. A sticky post is
one that has lots of content that make people want to check out
every part of it. The photos and videos are important. They show
that the blog is a serious project. They make the reader think that
the blog is authoritative. They make the reader tend to bookmark
your blog and come back often.

So, once you get a reader, you will most likely have a repeat reader.

Now, notice how much of this was actually my work. The first two
paragraphs are a small synopsis of the entry on the subject that I
found on Wikipedia. The Classification section is also from
Wikipedia.

All of the rest of the post is copied. That does not make it
unimportant. The importance of the post is that I brought all of
the information, photos and video together in a unique way.

The videos are all from Youtube. Youtube as well as some other
video sites will let you put their video on your website. The
photos are all from Flickr. If you are a member there and get
permission, you can use the photos of other members. There are many
similar photo services as well.

Below the video is the part of the post that I want you to pay the
most attention to. These are all small portions of text copied from
blogs (and a few other) sites that have two features in common.

1) They all contain the keywords that I'm interested in for the post.
2) They are all from a post or page that I think my readers would
be interested in.

and a final point:

3) Most of these will have a good chance of producing a link back
to you.

If this sounds like a lot of work, let me tell you now that I do
this very quickly with an automation tool that works like magic.
I'll tell you more later.

For now, let me tell you how powerful this method is. Each of the
links to one of the blogs that I put up automatically sends a
notice to the owner of that blog that I have put a link up to them.
The blogger will then go look at the link and often follow it back
to your blog. That is the first chance of getting another reader.

If the blogger likes the link to them, they will usually allow a
trackback to your blog. That means that your information will show
as a small comment on their blog entry along with a link back to
your blog. Voile! An incoming link!

Now, before I tell you how to automate this, let me tell you how to
do it manually - because you may want to see how well it works
before you get a tool to help.

Go to blog.google.com and type in 'growing orchids indoors' as an
example. There are a lot of good links on the first page, but no
obvious blogs. On the second page is a youtube video that you might
want to see if it would work for your post. But, after looking
through the first four pages, I don't see anything that looks
promising.

So, I'm going to look at 'growing orchids indoors wordpress'. Now
the second listing is this:

And, if you notice, there is a link at the bottom to comments. That
means that there is a good chance that the blogger is interested in
comments and will likely allow your trackback.

I usually put anywhere from six to 10 of these for any one post.
Now structure your links to this blog with a linked subtitle, copy
some of the content from their blog post and another link after
that to their post with 'read more', 'additional content' or
something like that.

That is a lot of work. And, if you are going to make significant
money, you are going to need to be working on several - if not
many. So, you will be miles ahead if you have a tool that will
speed up the process.

Fortunately, one of the many tools in the Firepow toolset is one

time. There are other tools that will help you get better Search
Engine Optimization for each post. That way, you will get much
higher placements for any search engine listing.
